The unique dive-expedition has started!
On January 1, 2010 the expeditionary sailing catamaran Amazing Enterprise has left Yacht Haven Marina in Phuket to make a 140-day voyage from Thailand to Cuba across the Indian Ocean, South Africa, the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. The voyage finishes on April 20 in the Bay of Cienfuegos (Cuba). The ship will have passed over 25 thousand km by then. It will visit lots of islands and countries of the Indian and Atlantic oceans: Andaman, southern Maldives, Seychelles, Chagos Atoll, Mauritius, Madagascar, South Africa, St. Helena Island, Brazil, Fernando de Noronha Islands, French Guiana, Venezuela and the numerous Caribbean.
The participants will be provided with complete information about the sailing vessel structure and the marine navigation rules during the voyage as well as will get the real practice of yachting and working with sails in various and complicated environments. Skipper Richard Malaise, a former lecturer of Swedish Marine Academy and incumbent instructor of Royal Yacht Association, will be coaching a number of RYA yacht courses.
The Amazing Enterprise is fully equipped for scuba diving and underwater discovering. The crew includes experienced coaches accredited by international federations of PADI, TDI and IANTD. Stops for scuba diving are planned throughout the route.
The expedition participants will experience the extensive excursion programme: islands landings, acquaintance with the islanders’ lifestyle, local cuisine and beverages sampling, trips deep into the islands for flora and fauna exploring.
Very few of us can afford a four-month sea journey; therefore the organizers divided the whole route into 12 stages. You can join or discontinue the journey in any port where the yacht stops.
Crossing two oceans aboard the sailing yacht, studying sailing, visiting sites which are hard to reach and insufficiently explored, meeting different countries and cultures, diving – all these impressions will create favourable conditions for each participant to get a new unique experience. This voyage is considered to become one of the main adventures in your life!
